Semarang State University (UNNES) continues to promote efforts to strengthen academic networks and expand collaboration between higher education institutions, supporting the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). One strategic step taken was the visit of Dr. Ellianawati, M.Sc., a lecturer in the Physics Education Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, UNNES, to the Physics Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Mataram (UNRAM) on Wednesday (July 9).

The visit carried several important objectives, including promoting the national scientific activity SPECTRA 2025, introducing the Indonesian Physics Education Journal (JPFI) as a reputable scientific publication medium, and expanding academic networks through pilot inter-institutional collaborations that align with SDG 17’s focus on global partnerships to advance education and research. Furthermore, on this occasion, Dr. Ellianawati also introduced the Master’s Program in Science Education, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, UNNES, to the FKIP UNRAM academic community, contributing to SDG 4 by enhancing access to quality higher education.

The meeting took place at the Physics Education Study Program Office, FKIP UNRAM, and was warmly welcomed by the Head of the Study Program, Dr. Hikmawati, S.Pd., M.Pd. This approach was deemed relevant to the Indonesian educational context, which is steeped in local cultural values and supports inclusive and quality education as targeted in SDG 4.

The dialogue revealed that Dr. Hikmawati’s dissertation focused heavily on ethnoscience—a field closely aligned with the expertise of Prof. Dr. Sudarmin, M.Si., a professor at UNNES, who also happened to be one of her dissertation examiners. The moment became even more lively when Dr. Hikmawati had a direct phone call with Prof. Sudarmin and Dra. Siti Khanafiyah, who reviewed her manuscript at JPFI. Dr. Hikmawati also revealed that one of her scientific publications at JPFI was instrumental in her promotion to Associate Professor.

That afternoon’s visit yielded a meeting point and a commitment to forging closer collaboration between the Physics Education Study Programs at UNNES and UNRAM.
