Demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental care, new students of the Faculty of Sports Science (FIK), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) for the 2025\/2026 Academic Year participated in a tree-planting activity held in Dukuh Sironjang, RT 01\/RW 01, Pakintelan Village, Gunungpati District, Semarang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The activity was part of the Student Orientation Program (PKKMB), which emphasizes conservation values\u2014a hallmark of UNNES. Through this program, new students were not only introduced to academic life but also encouraged to develop environmental awareness from the very beginning of their university journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
More than 200 tree seedlings of various species were planted in the Gunungpati hillside area, known as a buffer zone for Semarang\u2019s ecosystem. The planting was carried out collaboratively by new students, accompanied by the organizing committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is not just a ceremonial event. We want students to directly experience the importance of protecting the environment, especially in areas vulnerable to landslides and water scarcity,\u201d said Donny Wira Yudha, Ph.D., Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, FIK UNNES.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Each tree planted symbolizes a beginning, a hope, and a commitment.
