The visit was accompanied by lecturers from the Environmental Science program\u2014Dr. Rifa\u2019 Atunnisa, S.Hut., M.Sc., Putri Alifa Kholil, S.T., M.Ling., and Trida Ridho Fariz, M.Sc.\u2014and was supported by the UNNES Sub-Directorate of Conservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the visit, students engaged with a variety of sustainable agriculture practices, including hydroponics, organic waste management using maggots for fish feed, composting, rare plant conservation, and the cultivation of fruit and ornamental plants. These activities provided a comprehensive overview of environmentally friendly farming techniques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beyond introducing concepts of urban agriculture and food resilience, the field trip emphasized circular economy principles and integrated farming systems. The learning outcomes are closely aligned with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) through sustainable food systems,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) via organic waste recycling,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SDG 13 (Climate Action) through low-emission agricultural methods,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SDG 15 (Life on Land) by protecting rare plant species, and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through multi-stakeholder collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This experiential learning opportunity is expected to deepen students&#8217; understanding of sustainability in the context of environmental and food system challenges, while also reinforcing UNNES\u2019s commitment to becoming a sustainable and conservation-focused campus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As part of the Food Security and Global Challenges course, Environmental Science students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) conducted a field visit to the UNNES Ecofarm on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
