The community service team from the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), conducted a financial education program for dozens of beneficiaries of the Family Hope Program (PKH) in Pabelan District, Semarang Regency, on Wednesday (May 7). The initiative aimed to improve financial literacy among low-income families as an initial step toward economic independence and sustainable well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Carrying the theme \u201cEnhancing the Welfare of PKH Beneficiaries through Applied Financial Education,\u201d the session featured Eriyani, S.E., M.Pd., a lecturer from UNNES, as the main speaker. The training materials covered household budgeting, the importance of saving, and the use of safe and efficient digital financial products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The head of the community service team, Via Amalia, S.Pd., M.Pd., emphasized the importance of financial literacy in driving mindset changes toward economic self-sufficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMany PKH recipients still lack basic knowledge of household financial management. Through this training, we hope participants can start recording their income and expenses, and allocate a portion for savings,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The participants, most of them were housewives, showed great enthusiasm during the interactive discussions and financial management simulations. One participant, Sumiyati (50), shared that the training had broadened her understanding of daily financial planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cUsually, the aid money is spent immediately on daily needs. Now I\u2019ve learned how to gradually set aside some of it for savings,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The activity was supported by local PKH facilitators and the district government. The facilitators welcomed the initiative and expressed hope that similar programs would be held regularly. They also expressed optimism that the outcomes of the training would bring a positive impact on the economic lives of the beneficiary families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This program reflects UNNES\u2019s commitment as a conservation university to supporting community development through educational and sustainable empowerment approaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
