As part of the 2025 Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) Summer Course program, 60 international participants from 32 countries visited the Faculty of Engineering (FT UNNES) to take part in a batik-making activity. The event was held at the Batik Laboratory, Building E10, on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, and was met with great enthusiasm from all participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The activity began with an introduction to batik, one of Indonesia\u2019s most renowned traditional arts, which was officially recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on October 2, 2009. The participants were eager to engage in the hands-on process of batik-making, reflecting a strong interest in Indonesian cultural heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Wirawan Sumbodo, M.T., along with the Vice Deans and faculty members from the Family Welfare Education (PKK) department. They warmly welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting traditional crafts through international academic collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
By integrating batik-making into the UNNES Summer Course, the university aims to enhance the global visibility of Indonesian cultural heritage and foster cross-cultural understanding among participants from diverse backgrounds.
