A wide range of courses and academic programs have been strategically designed to address environmental issues, climate change, and conservation.

The vision of UNNES is “Becoming a University with a World Reputation and a Pioneer of Excellence in Education with a Conservation Mindset”. UNNES has several commitments, including implementation of values through conservation. Here are some of the commitments on several courses that are related to Sustainability.

The “Conservation Education” course is a compulsory course at UNNES, which will be a special characteristic for UNNES students. This course must be taken by 1st and 2nd semester students as an effort to enforce conservation values.

Considering that one of UNNES’s visions is “conservation-minded,” all study programs are encouraged to include conservation-related learning materials, particularly in mini-research assignments for each course. Mini-research or case study learning methods are mandatory for all courses at UNNES.

The curriculum applied by UNNES must be conservation-based; even courses that are not directly related to sustainability must be designed in such a way as to contain conservation values. The main objective is the integration of conservation values in all courses in unnes curriculum. Thus, the scope of conservation and sustainability in UNNES has not been limited only to environmental conservation but also conservation values enforcement to its human resources.

UNNES curriculum is built around conservation, therefore the conservation values are incorporated into the teaching strategies and course materials in every course. A distinctive feature of UNNES’s academic approach is the compulsory university-wide course Pendidikan Konservasi(Conservation Education), which is undertaken by all students across disciplines. This course serves as a foundation for embedding conservation values within the university’s academic culture.

In addition, UNNES offers numerous courses that explicitly focus on environmental sustainability, such as; Environmental Pollution, Environmental Impact Assessment (AMDAL), Waste Management, and Geographic Information System (GIS) Applications for Land Suitability and Environmental Carrying Capacity Analysis. UNNES offers 1530 courses which 532 of them have environment conservation materials.
