Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) allocated funding for 620 community engagement programs across Indonesia in 2024 with a total budget amounting to IDR 8,384,693,000. These initiatives underscore the university\u2019s commitment to fulfilling its tri dharma mandate by contributing to societal development through academic expertise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the funded programs was implemented at SMP Islam Al Fattah in Semarang, titled \u201cDevelopment of Environmental Education and Culture in Schools.\u201d This initiative aimed to foster environmental awareness and promote sustainable practices among students within the school environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The program was coordinated by Dr. Deby Luriawati Naryatmojo, M.Pd., Dr. Kusumantoro, S.Pd., M.Si., and Dr. Muh Sholeh, S.Pd., M.Si., from the Department of Indonesian Language and Literature Education at UNNES. Utilizing a School-Based Environmental Learning Approach (PBLHS), the program integrated practical and participatory environmental activities,such as waste management, campus greening, and eco-literacy, into students\u2019 daily learning experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The initiative successfully enhanced students\u2019 environmental literacy and cultivated a sense of civic responsibility and sustainable behavior. It received positive feedback from the school community and local stakeholders for its tangible impact on school culture and student engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
By embedding sustainability principles into the educational framework, SMP Islam Al Fattah has emerged as a model institution that exemplifies environmentally conscious and character-driven education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
