The Faculty of Sports Science (FIK) at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) successfully hosted a National Seminar on “Physical Education and Students’ Mental Health” on Tuesday, December 3, 2025. The event, held on the third floor of the FIK UNNES Dean’s Building, featured two distinguished speakers: Prof. Drs. Suroto, M.A., Ph.D., an academic from Universitas Negeri Surabaya, and Luftiah, S.Psi., M.Si., Ph.D., a psychology expert from Universitas Negeri Semarang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The seminar addressed contemporary issues concerning the vital role of physical education in promoting students’ mental well-being in the modern era. Prof. Drs. Suroto, M.A., Ph.D., elaborated on physical education’s role in cultivating students’ character and physical fitness. Meanwhile, Luftiah, S. Psi., M.Si., Ph.D., provided an in-depth analysis of the connection between mental health and physical activity, highlighting how the educational environment can foster students’ psychological well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This initiative aligns with UNNES’ commitment to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), which underscores the significance of mental health and physical health as an integral part of global well-being\u2014an often overlooked aspect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event was attended by hundreds of participants, including students, lecturers, and education practitioners from various regions. In his opening remarks, the Dean of FIK UNNES expressed his hope that the seminar would provide new insights into the crucial synergy between physical education and mental health in shaping an excellent future generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This seminar served as a productive platform for discussions, knowledge exchange, and sharing of best practices to promote a balanced approach to students’ physical and mental well-being in Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
