On Wednesday, September 29, students from the Community Service Program (KKN) of Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) collaborated with the Regional Drinking Water Company (PDAM) to conduct a clean water distribution program in Mutihkulon Village, Wedung District, Demak Regency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Field Coordinator for KKN, Aprila Niravita, accompanied by Nurul Fibrianti, a supervising lecturer for KKN, stated that the residents of Mutihkulon Village have been struggling to obtain clean water for their daily needs due to the prolonged drought for several weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The community received assistance comprising 19 water tank trucks\u201414 tanks from PDAM and five tanks from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Demak,” Aprila said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Aprilia, the water was allocated equally to ensure fairness in distribution, with one truck tank designated for each neighborhood association (RT) over one week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the water distribution, the Director of PDAM Tirta Dharma Demak, Qumarul Huda, emphasized that this KKN student program aligns with their initiative to provide clean water assistance. This follows the observations made by Unnes KKN students in Mutihkulon Village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Faiq, the KKN student coordinator for Mutihkulon Village, explained that the water from residents’ wells is currently insufficient for daily needs (such as bathing and washing), and it even has an unpleasant taste. To meet their water needs, residents purchase water daily in jerrycans. One jerrycan costs Rp 2,000, while a jerrycan only costs Rp 500 during non-drought seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
