Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) upholds an inclusive and equitable working environment where all individuals—regardless of religion, gender, age, ethnicity, or sexual orientation—are treated equally. The university strongly believes that diversity enhances academic excellence and fosters a healthy institutional culture.
The atmosphere at UNNES is one that is free from discrimination. Religion, gender, and age are not used as criteria in employment, promotion, or participation in academic and non-academic activities. This commitment aligns with the Standard Norms and Regulations Number 1 on the Elimination of Discrimination, Race, and Ethnicity issued by the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) of the Republic of Indonesia.
As part of its ongoing dedication to inclusivity and protection of human rights, UNNES has established the Safe House for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (Rumah Aman PPKS) on the H Building Sekaran Campus. The facility was inaugurated by the Rector of UNNES as a concrete effort to protect survivors of sexual violence, including lecturers, education staff, and students.
Rector UNNES emphasized that the establishment of Rumah PPKS demonstrates UNNES’s strong commitment to supporting survivors and promoting a safe campus environment. This initiative also reflects the university’s quick response to national priorities set by President Joko Widodo and the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Regulation No. 30 of 2021 on the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence in Higher Education Institutions.
To strengthen institutional mechanisms, UNNES has also issued the Rector’s Decree No. T/3518/UN37/HK.02/2024 concerning the Establishment of the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (PPKS) for the 2024–2026 Period. This decree formalizes the roles and responsibilities of the PPKS Task Force to ensure consistent implementation of preventive and responsive actions within the university community.
