Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) continues to demonstrate its strong commitment to creating a healthy and happy campus through strategic partnerships with various national health institutions. This initiative is part of UNNES’s ongoing efforts to ensure the physical, mental, and social well-being of its entire academic community—students, lecturers, and education staff.
One of the key collaborations is between UNNES and the Directorate General of Health Workers, Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Number T/12704/UN37/KS/2021. The cooperation covers four main areas: education, research, and community service; institutional development; human resource development; and other activities mutually agreed upon. This partnership strengthens UNNES’s contribution to producing educators and researchers who understand the importance of public health and promote healthy lifestyles within the university environment.
UNNES has also established cooperation with the Social Security Administrator for Health (BPJS Kesehatan) of Central Java and Yogyakarta Regions. The MoU, also numbered T/12704/UN37/KS/2021, emphasizes synergy between both parties in strengthening the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education while expanding the reach of the National Health Insurance (JKN) program. Through this partnership, all UNNES students are integrated into the JKN system, ensuring they receive proper health coverage throughout their studies.
The collaboration also includes joint activities such as public awareness programs, seminars, workshops, and human resource capacity building aimed at increasing understanding of the importance of health insurance. UNNES is one of the first universities in Indonesia to guarantee that all its students are protected under the national health insurance scheme—a tangible manifestation of the university’s commitment to the welfare of its academic community.

In addition, UNNES has strengthened its academic network in the health field through cooperation with Telogorejo College of Health Sciences (STIKES Telogorejo Semarang), under MoU Number T/6781/UN37/KS/2021. This partnership focuses on enhancing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and improving human resource quality, particularly in health education and research.
UNNES had previously built a strategic partnership with BPJS Kesehatan Headquarters through MoU Number 7075/UN37/DN/2016, which includes the integration of the National Health Insurance (JKN-KIS) program for all members of the university community and the utilization of health facilities managed by UNNES itself.
This commitment is further strengthened by the presence of the UNNES Health Service Center (Puslakes UNNES), an official health facility under the UNNES Business and Asset Optimization Agency (BOAB).
Established on June 5, 2012, Puslakes provides services for both the UNNES academic community and the surrounding public, offering general and dental care, home care, laboratory services, physiotherapy, ambulance services, occupational health, and community health programs such as Prolanis. Puslakes also partners with BPJS Kesehatan, allowing campus residents to access affordable and quality medical services.
Currently, UNNES has more than 50,000 active students across various faculties, making health and well-being essential elements of campus life. Through the synergy between Puslakes and national health institutions, UNNES ensures comprehensive health coverage, improved access to medical services, and stronger health literacy among its students.
UNNES Rector, Prof. Dr. S Martono, M.Si., stated that these collaborations lay a strong foundation for creating a healthy, productive, and harmonious campus environment.
“The well-being of students, lecturers, and staff is our priority. Through partnerships with national health institutions, UNNES aims to ensure that every member of the university community can thrive in optimal physical and mental conditions,” he said.
With its extensive network of health collaborations, UNNES reaffirms its position as a university that excels not only academically but also in promoting the quality of life of its community.
