Commitment to the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) continues to be strengthened in higher education, one of which is through the implementation of policies and concrete programs carried out by Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES). Various strategic steps have been taken to ensure that all academic members receive fair, inclusive treatment, free from discrimination.
As a form of support for people with disabilities, UNNES launched the Disability Support Unit as a center for services and assistance for students with disabilities. This initiative aligns with the implementation of Presidential Regulation No. 8 of 2016 on People with Disabilities and is supported through the Disability Service Unit (ULD) program from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.
Attention to the protection of the rights of all campus members is also reflected in the issuance of rector regulations regarding the prevention and handling of sexual violence. This policy serves as an important foundation for creating a safe and comfortable campus environment, ensuring that all parties are protected from the potential of sexual violence.
Additionally, the diversity of student backgrounds has been given ample space at UNNES, evidenced by the existence of student organizations from various religious and social groups. Support for freedom of religion and worship is also marked by the inauguration of interfaith prayer rooms within the campus.
Student conduct and ethics are clearly regulated in the university’s official documents, serving as essential guidelines in maintaining integrity and harmony within the campus community. These efforts reaffirm that UNNES not only upholds academic principles but also fosters an inclusive and humane culture, which is the foundation of quality education.
