Digital literacy is important for elementary school teachers as part of improving their professional competence. Based on observations conducted by the team, elementary school teachers in Songgom District, Brebes Regency, have an intermediate level of digital literacy. With the aim of improving the digital literacy of elementary school teachers, the Community Service Team of the Faculty of Language and Arts (FBS) of Semarang State University (UNNES) held a Digital Literacy Workshop attended by 30 elementary school teachers in Songgom District, Brebes Regency.
The Community Service Team, chaired by Rio Anugrah Rizkiansyah, M.Pd., consisted of lecturers and students, namely Dr. Asep Purwo Yudi Utomo, M.Pd., Prof. Dr. Rustono, M.Hum., Dr. Haryadi, M.Pd., Audya Nilam Nariswari, and Allamanda Kusumaning Anjora. The workshop was held on Saturday (14/6) at the PKG Hall in Songgom District, Brebes Regency, with a focus on the use of technology for learning as part of digital literacy. All team members provided intensive training on the essence of digital literacy, the use of the Quizizz application, and the development of 2D animated digital learning media using the Canva application.
“Teachers can develop their professional competencies, one of which is through mastering digital literacy,” Rio emphasized in his speech. The entire team hopes that this activity can realize quality education. Muhammad Abdul Iqbal, S.Pd., a teacher at SDN Wanatawang 04, Songgom District, said he was enthusiastic about this training. “Apart from being enjoyable, this workshop provides new knowledge for teachers to create learning that is not monotonous with digital technology,” he said.
Through this workshop, elementary school teachers in Songgom District, Brebes Regency, deepened their knowledge of digital literacy and practiced using Quizizz and Canva. Teachers can apply the knowledge gained in the workshop in their classroom learning. In addition, these teachers are expected to share the knowledge they have gained with their colleagues in their respective work areas.
The community service team hopes that the activities will not be limited to digital literacy workshops, but also include other activities related to improving the digital competence of teachers. These activities are expected to equip teachers in preparing meaningful learning towards quality education.
