The Subgugus Latih of the Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD) Program, Faculty of Education and Psychology, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), through Ambalan and Racana Wijaya–Tunggawijaya, Gugus Depan Kota Semarang 14.111 and 14.112, successfully organized the 2026 Basic Advanced Scout Leader Course (Kursus Mahir Dasar/KMD). The activity was conducted offline from 10 to 15 January 2026 and took place under the coordination of the Central Java Regional Scout Council (Kwartir Daerah Jawa Tengah), in collaboration with the Semarang City Scout Training and Education Institute (Lemdikacab Cakrabaswara), and under the supervision of the Semarang City Scout Branch (Kwarcab).

The Basic Advanced Scout Leader Course is a formal training program designed to equip participants with essential knowledge, skills, and competencies required to become professional Scout leaders. The program emphasizes mastery of the Basic Principles of Scouting and the Scout Education Method, enabling participants to effectively guide, educate, and mentor young learners through scouting activities that foster character development, discipline, leadership, and social responsibility.

The 2026 KMD for the Siaga (Cub Scout) level was attended by a total of 546 participants, who were divided into 12 learning classes. The training process was supported by 84 experienced trainers and instructors from the Semarang City Scout Branch. Over the course of six intensive days, participants engaged in 16 structured learning sessions covering a wide range of topics, including the fundamentals of scouting development, alert and survival skills, scouting leadership techniques, coaching practices, assessment and evaluation methods, as well as reflection activities and a closing ceremony.

Throughout the program, participants not only received theoretical instruction but also took part in practical exercises, simulations, and group activities designed to strengthen their leadership capacity, teamwork, communication skills, and commitment to educational values. These learning experiences are expected to prepare PGSD students as future elementary school teachers who are capable of integrating scouting values into character-based education in schools.

In addition to its educational objectives, the 2026 Basic Advanced Scout Leader Course also contributes to the achievement of several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The program supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by enhancing the competence of prospective educators and scout leaders as agents of character education. It also aligns with SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by fostering integrity, discipline, leadership, and civic responsibility among future generations. Furthermore, the successful implementation of this activity reflects SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through strong collaboration between Universitas Negeri Semarang, regional scouting organizations, and educational institutions.

Through the implementation of the Basic Advanced Scout Leader Course, UNNES reaffirms its commitment to developing graduates who are not only academically competent but also possess strong character, leadership skills, and a sense of social responsibility. The 2026 KMD program is expected to produce qualified, professional, and high-integrity Scout leaders who can contribute meaningfully to sustainable human resource development and the cultivation of future generations with strong moral and leadership values.
