Ngapus (24/07/2025) — In line with the spirit of UNNES GIAT Building Indonesia from Villages, students of UNNES GIAT 12 Ngapus Village, better known as KKN students, carried out a community service program aimed at supporting development in Ngapus Village, Japah Sub-district, Blora Regency. In implementing the village development program, the UNNES KKN Development Center under LPPM UNNES connected the competencies of students with the needs of the community.
One of the needs identified in Ngapus Village was raising awareness of the importance of technology, especially for elementary school children who require education about technological developments in today’s era. Technology greatly influences the way children learn, communicate, and prepare for the future. Responding to this, UNNES GIAT 12 Ngapus Village organized a technology introduction program with fifth-grade students at SD N 1 Ngapus.
The program aimed to help fifth grade students at SD N 1 Ngapus become familiar with the digital world, foster enthusiasm for learning, curiosity, critical thinking, and the proper use of technology.
The technology introduction activity was carried out in an interactive and engaging manner. It began with an opening session and ice-breaking games to build the students’ excitement. The session continued with an introduction to what technology is, its benefits, different forms of technology, educational games, and how to use technology wisely. The students were also shown visual examples of technology implementation and invited to discuss its benefits in daily life.
The students expressed great enthusiasm during the activity. Tata, a fifth grader, shared her excitement: “I am very happy, Kak. I can now learn what technology is and how to use it.” The activity clearly had a positive impact on the students. The session ended with a Q&A discussion between the facilitators and students about technology and how to use it appropriately.
Mr. Hengky, the fifth-grade homeroom teacher at SD N 1 Ngapus, expressed his gratitude: “Thank you to the UNNES KKN students for introducing technology to our fifth graders. This program is very much needed because previously the school was not able to provide sufficient understanding of technology. The students looked very happy and comfortable learning with the UNNES KKN team.”
The program provided broader insights for the students about technological development, helped them prepare to face future advancements, and offered innovation in teaching for the teachers. It is hoped that the activity will encourage learning enthusiasm and critical thinking among fifth graders in facing future technological challenges. Furthermore, the program can be further developed and adjusted to local needs in the future.
