The Center for Field Experience Practice Development (PPL) of the Institute for Educational and Professional Development (LPPP) at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) successfully conducted the selection process for the International Lantip Program on May 21-22, 2025. The event was attended by 91 enthusiastic students who participated in the selection stages to earn a golden opportunity to undertake teaching practicums at international partner schools located in Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines.
The International Lantip Program represents one of UNNES’s strategic initiatives to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
SDG 4: Quality Education, by providing cross-cultural learning experiences and enhancing teaching competencies among students; and
SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through the strengthening of collaborations with international educational institutions such as the KBRI Canberra School, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) and Panji NGO in Malaysia, Kasetsart University in Thailand, as well as partner schools in the Philippines.
The Head of the PPL Development Center of LPPP UNNES, Dr. Soedjatmiko, M.Pd., stated that the program not only serves as a platform for the professional development of future educators, but also constitutes a tangible contribution from UNNES in achieving the SDGs.
“We hope the selected students will become education ambassadors who embody the spirit of global collaboration, tolerance, and intercultural understanding,” he affirmed.
The selection process comprised several stages, including administrative screening, English-language interviews, and presentations on participants’ motivation and readiness to face teaching challenges in their assigned countries. The selected students will receive additional training, including English language proficiency enhancement, intercultural competence workshops, and microteaching sessions before their departure scheduled between June and September 2025.
In alignment with the spirit of the SDGs, UNNES’s International Lantip Program is expected to serve as a bridge connecting students with the global community, preparing them to become future educators capable of addressing the challenges of the 21st century, and contributing to the realization of Indonesia Emas 2045.
