UNNES has established a strong and enabling human resource ecosystem to support interdisciplinary research across the university. Academic staff, researchers, laboratory personnel, and professional administrative staff work in a coordinated and complementary manner to facilitate the full research cycle, from agenda setting and proposal development to implementation, partnership management, dissemination, and impact reporting. UNNES administrative staff play a vital enabling role in supporting interdisciplinary research across the AIoT Laboratory, Smart Innovative Classroom Laboratory, and the Centre of Excellence in Science and Technology.

They coordinate research administration, scheduling, documentation, procurement, reporting, and inter-unit communication, ensuring that academic and technical activities run efficiently. Their support helps connect researchers from education, engineering, computer science, and applied sciences in developing practical innovations such as AIoT systems, smart learning environments, digital content production, and technology-based problem solving. The staff working in those workplaces contribute effectively and bring the qualities to the university. For example, in AIoT Laboratory it has 11 staff including the head of laboratory that work very well for the teaching learning process and the research on the relevant knowledge. In addition, at the Smart Innovative Classroom Laboratory there are 3 staff that work to ensure the laboratory is the place for those who would like to implement the new idea regarding any research that is done. The last is the Centre of Excellence in Science and Technology. With a total of 30 administrative and academic staff it is established as a sign that UNNES really appreciates any kind of science and technology that was created and existed by the lecturer and students.

By managing operational workflows and facilitating collaboration, UNNES administrative staff strengthen the institutional ecosystem for applicable, cross-disciplinary research and innovation. This integrated support structure allows UNNES to connect expertise across disciplines and to respond effectively to complex challenges in education, technology, society, and sustainability. By strengthening collaboration between academic and support units, UNNES ensures that interdisciplinary research is not only academically rigorous but also operationally effective and socially relevant. This institutional commitment enhances the university’s capacity to generate impactful research outcomes that contribute to sustainable development and reinforce its role as a globally engaged university.
