As part of its unwavering commitment to fostering an inclusive campus environment, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) continues to implement tangible initiatives through the provision of specialized services and mentoring for students with disabilities. These efforts are coordinated by the Center for Language Services, Educational and Career Training, Counseling, and Disability Services (PLBPP), which offers comprehensive support encompassing academic assistance, career development, and counseling services.
The Center for Counseling and Disability Services (Pusat Layanan Bimbingan Konseling dan Disabilitas) is located on the 3rd floor of the Integrated Laboratory of LPTK LP3 UNNES, Prof. Satmoko Building, Sekaran, Gunungpati, and can be reached via phone at 085802523382 or email at [email protected].
A notable initiative was the Disability Services Unit Volunteer Training held on August 5, 2024. This program featured Prof. Dr. Ishartiwi, M.Pd., from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta as a keynote speaker, and was attended by psychology students and student staff from LPPP. The training aimed to equip volunteers with the necessary knowledge and skills to support students with disabilities in an empathetic and professional manner.
In terms of infrastructure, the university continues to improve facilities, such as ramps, elevators, and accessible public spaces. It is to ensure a universally friendly campus environment.
These ongoing efforts have yielded measurable outcomes. According to the 2022 UNESA-DIMETRIC (Disability Inclusion Metrics) ranking, UNNES was placed 9th among 125 higher education institutions worldwide recognized for their disability-friendly practices.
Through these comprehensive programs and facilities, UNNES aspires to ensure that all members of its academic community, including students with special needs experience an equitable, inclusive learning environment.
