As part of its strong commitment to upholding labour rights and promoting decent work for all, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) has established lactation rooms in every faculty as a tangible form of support for employee welfare. These facilities ensure that female employees can continue fulfilling their responsibilities as mothers while maintaining professional productivity and well-being.

Each lactation room is designed according to UNNES’ internal standards for comfort and hygiene. The facilities include sanitation and toilet access, refrigerators and cold storage boxes, as well as essential items such as tissues and hand sanitizers. These provisions reflect the university’s dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive work environment for all staff members.
UNNES’ recognition of employee rights is also manifested in various institutional policies, including Rector’s Regulation Number 122 of 2024 on Employee Leave at Universitas Negeri Semarang. This regulation guarantees fair and equal access to leave entitlements, in accordance with national labour guidelines, ensuring that every employee — including women and international staff — receives equitable treatment in the workplace.
In addition, UNNES is deeply committed to ensuring a Safe Campus free from sexual violence. The university promotes a secure and respectful work environment through Rector’s Regulation Number 24 of 2021 on the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence at Universitas Negeri Semarang, emphasizing the protection and dignity of all employees.
Through these ongoing efforts, UNNES demonstrates its alignment with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, particularly in recognizing labour rights, ensuring safe working conditions, and empowering both women and men to participate fully and equally in the workforce. The ultimate goal is to foster a just, inclusive, and supportive work culture that enhances institutional excellence and service quality.
