The Coordinator of the Physics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Semarang State University (Prof. Dr. Masturi, M.Sc.) led a collaboration strengthening visit to the BMKG Sleman Station on October 24, 2025. The visit was welcomed by Budiarta, S.Sc., S.Stat., MDM. (Head of the Observation Team), Dr. Nugroho Budi Wibowo, S.Sc., M.Sc., Dr. Ayu Krisno Ekarsti, S.Sc., M.T. (Head of the IT Operations Management Team), and Berta Yudhiastuti, S.Sc. (IT Operations Management Team Member). The meeting served as a forum to strengthen the academic partnership between UNNES and BMKG in the fields of earth physics, meteorology, and information technology, in line with the commitment to SDGs 4 (Quality Education) and SDGs 17 (Partnership for the Goals). During the discussion session, BMKG expressed its appreciation for the implementation of the UNNES PRIGEL internship program, which was deemed to have positively contributed to student competency development. The BMKG also opened up opportunities for students to continue their internships as final assignments (TA) with a joint mentoring system between UNNES lecturers and BMKG supervisors. Furthermore, the discussion also discussed opportunities for synergy within the Tsunami Ready Community (TRC) program, which had previously been recognized as a form of UNNES Physics Community Service program (KKN), as well as a proposal to formalize the program as part of UNNES GIAT in 2026, involving various study programs. Prof. Dr. Masturi, M.Si., welcomed the collaborative initiative. He stated that the collaboration with BMKG Sleman is a strategic step in strengthening experiential learning and applied research in the field of earth physics. He emphasized that UNNES is committed to expanding partnerships with professional institutions to provide quality education that is relevant to the needs of society and sustainable development. This synergy is expected to be a concrete example of the implementation of SDGs 4 and SDGs 17, through superior education based on real collaboration between campuses and government agencies.
