The Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) launched “Service Jimat Motor”, a community service program aimed at residents and students around the campus. This initiative offers free motorcycle servicing of all types, simply by purchasing high-quality oil from PERTAMINA. In total, 500 motorcycles were serviced over the course of two days.
Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Wirawan Sumbodo, M.T., explained that this activity is a concrete implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, aligned with the spirit of enhancing student competencies while providing direct benefits to the community.
“This is an embodiment of the ‘Impactful Campus’ movement promoted by the government. The knowledge and technical skills possessed by our engineering students are applied directly to the community. The goal is to improve student competence while also increasing community satisfaction through campus partnerships,” he explained during an interview at the event location.
Meanwhile, Vice-Rector IV of UNNES, Prof. Dr. Nur Qudus, M.T., IPM., emphasized that this program is part of the university’s commitment to the Impactful Campus initiative introduced by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek).
“This activity is a tangible synergy between higher education institutions and industry. UNNES is committed to becoming an impactful campus through strategic collaborations like this, which align with the spirit of Kemendiktisaintek,” he affirmed.
On the other hand, Ryan Krishna Alandra, Sales Area Manager for Central Java at PT Pertamina Lubricants, expressed hope that the partnership with UNNES would continue in the future.
“We hope this collaboration between PERTAMINA and UNNES can become a regular monthly event, not just a one-time activity. It’s incredible—this event has served up to 500 customers per day. We are always ready to support such positive initiatives,” he said.
Andra Andika Putra, Chairperson of the Service Jimat program, stated that the activity was not just about free service but also about education and hands-on practice for engineering students.
“The key point of this activity is community service in the field of technical services. The oil we offer is affordable because of our direct partnership with PERTAMINA, and the service provided is safe and comfortable,” he explained.
