In support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Quality Education, two students from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Political Science (FISIP), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) participated in an International Seminar held at the Pusdik Binmas Lemdiklat Polri Auditorium, Banyubiru District, Semarang Regency, Central Java, on Wednesday (October 22).
The seminar, themed “Optimizing the Role of Police and Communities in Crime Prevention to Foster Environmental Security and Enhance Community Productivity Toward National Food Security,” was attended by students of the Regular Education Program of Pusdik Binmas POLRI and university students from various public and private institutions across Central Java.
The Deputy Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Wakapolri), Commissioner General Prof. Dr. Dedi Prasetyo, S.H., M.Hum., M.Si., M.M., served as the keynote speaker. In his address, he highlighted crucial issues regarding internal reform within the National Police, particularly concerning professionalism, accountability, and public oversight of law enforcement institutions. Also present at the event were Head of the Police Education and Training Institute (Kalemdiklat Polri), Commissioner General Prof. Dr. Chrysnanda Dwilaksana, M.Si.; Assistant for Operations to the Chief of Police, Commissioner General Dr. M. Fadil Imran, M.Si.; and JICA Expert, Commissioner General (Japan Police) Nakanishi Akira, who shared international perspectives on police-community partnerships.
Dean of FISIP UNNES, Prof. Arif Purnomo, accompanied by FISIP lecturer Rudi Salam, noted during the discussion session that beyond the security aspect, the relationship between social order (kamtibmas) and community productivity also deserves attention. Maintaining a safe and secure environment, he emphasized, is a fundamental pillar for enabling communities to innovate, produce, and improve their welfare—particularly in the context of national food security.
Muaren Anastasia Gardini and Kharina Khukma Fadhila, the two participating FISIP students, expressed enthusiasm and gratitude for the opportunity to take part in the seminar, which involved global institutions such as the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). According to Rudi Salam, the event forms part of an ongoing international partnership program between the Indonesian National Police (POLRI), JICA, and the Ikatan Sakura Indonesia (ISI).
Through this forum, the National Police emphasized that synergy among government institutions, academia, and civil society is essential in building a safe, productive, and resilient society, capable of withstanding potential social and economic disruptions.
