As part of efforts to strengthen academic institutions and develop new study programs, the Faculty of Defense Management, Republic of Indonesia Defense University (UNHAN RI) conducted a benchmarking visit to the Faculty of Sports Science (FIK), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) on Thursday, October 16, 2025. The visit was led by Colonel Inf. Sugiri, S.Pd., M.Si. (Han), and aimed to gather insights related to the establishment of the Undergraduate Study Program in Sports Science at UNHAN RI.
The delegation from UNHAN RI was warmly welcomed by Dr. Taufiq Hidayah, M.Kes., Dean of the Faculty of Sports Science UNNES, accompanied by the vice deans, and the coordinator of the Sports Science Study Program. The meeting took place in the FIK UNNES Task Group Room in a cordial and collaborative atmosphere.
In his opening remarks, Colonel Sugiri expressed his appreciation for the hospitality extended by FIK UNNES and explained that the visit was part of UNHAN RI’s strategic planning process to initiate a new academic program aligned with national defense needs, particularly in the field of sports and physical education.
The benchmarking activity involved in-depth discussions covering various essential aspects of academic program management, including curriculum structure, faculty qualifications and competencies, learning assessment systems, accreditation mechanisms, and graduate profiles. The FIK UNNES team shared their experiences and best practices in the development and management of the Sports Science Study Program.
As part of the visit, both institutions also signed a cooperation agreement, which is expected to serve as a formal foundation for broader collaboration in the future. The agreement encompasses potential initiatives such as faculty exchanges, curriculum development, and joint research projects.
This activity marks a strategic milestone for UNHAN RI in expanding its academic scope and reinforcing synergy among higher education institutions in building a quality and nationally relevant higher education ecosystem in Indonesia.
The initiative aligns with broader efforts to enhance higher education quality and institutional collaboration through academic partnerships and capacity building, contributing to the advancement of education and research at the national level.
