The Faculty of Sports Sciences (FIK), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), continues to strengthen its international presence by sending 13 lecturers as delegates and speakers at the ASEAN Council of Physical Education and Sport (ACPES) International Conference, held on October 1–3, 2025, in the Philippines.
The three-day conference represents a form of academic collaboration between FIK UNNES and ACPES in advancing the development of sports sciences and physical education in the ASEAN region. The event gathered academics, researchers, and sports practitioners from across Southeast Asia and neighboring regions. The UNNES delegation was led by Dr. Donny Wira Yudha Kusuma, Ph.D., Vice Dean I of FIK UNNES, who also serves as ACPES Vice President for Research and Publication.
The participation of FIK UNNES lecturers in this conference reflects the faculty’s strong commitment to supporting the internationalization of education and the advancement of knowledge in sports, physical education, and health sciences.
“Our participation in ACPES 2025 is part of FIK UNNES’s strategy to expand international networks and disseminate faculty research findings at the global level,” stated Dr. Donny Wira Yudha Kusuma following the presentation session.
During the conference, UNNES lecturers presented a range of current research findings addressing strategic issues in physical education, sport science, fitness, and sports management. In addition to enriching academic discourse, this engagement also opens opportunities for research collaboration and scientific exchange with international institutions.
The ACPES 2025 Conference serves as a significant milestone in reinforcing UNNES’s position—particularly that of the Faculty of Sports Sciences—as a globally competitive higher education institution in the field of sports sciences.
The participation of the 13 FIK UNNES lecturers in the ASEAN Council of Physical Education and Sport (ACPES) 2025 International Conference aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), notably:
- SDG 4: Quality Education – By presenting and disseminating research findings, the lecturers contribute to enhancing educational innovation and academic excellence in sports and physical education.
- SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals – The conference provides a strategic platform to expand international networks and foster cross-country research collaborations, strengthening UNNES’s role in global development partnerships.
- SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being – Research topics related to sport science, physical fitness, and education support initiatives to improve community health and well-being across Southeast Asia.
