Semarang, November 5, 2025, the Beauty Education Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Semarang State University (UNNES), held a public lecture with the theme “Solo Basahan Bridal Makeup Demo.” The event was opened by Rusiyanto, S.Pd., M.T., Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Engineering, UNNES, in the Prof. Soedhartono meeting room on the third floor of the Faculty’s Dean’s Office. The event featured a professional speaker in the field of Javanese bridal makeup, Priyo Diky Rinandi, S.S., who is widely known for his work and contributions to the makeup artist world under the handle @dikyrinandimakeup.
This event is part of the UNNES Beauty Education Study Program’s efforts to support the learning process in the Javanese Bridal Makeup course, which focuses on the preservation and development of traditional Indonesian makeup culture, particularly the Solo Basahan style.
This public lecture falls under SDG 4 (Quality Education), which aims to improve students’ skills in the field of Beauty.
In this public lecture, Priyo Diky Rinandi shared his experiences, techniques, and the profound philosophy behind Solo Basahan bridal makeup. Students had the opportunity to witness a live demonstration of Solo Basahan bridal makeup, from facial preparation and hair styling to the use of traditional Solo Basahan bridal attire and accessories.
The lecturer of the Javanese Bridal Makeup course, Maria Krisnawati, S.Pd., M.Sn., stated that this activity is expected to provide a contextual learning experience for students, enabling them to comprehensively understand the techniques and meaning of Solo Basahan bridal makeup.
Meanwhile, the Beauty Education Study Program hopes this activity will be an inspiring learning platform, encouraging students not only to master the technical skills of bridal makeup but also to foster a sense of pride and responsibility in preserving local culture.
“We want students to learn directly from professional practitioners so they can develop creativity and innovation, and preserve the valuable cultural heritage of Javanese bridal makeup,” said Dr. Krisnawati. Ade Novi Nurul Ihsani, S.Pd., M.Pd., Head of the Beauty Education Study Program.
This public lecture demonstrates a concrete collaboration between academics and practitioners to produce outstanding, creative, and characterful future educators and professionals in the field of beauty, while upholding Indonesian cultural values amidst the development of the modern beauty industry.
