The Electrical Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), has established a strategic partnership with PT Pertamina Retail. This collaboration was realized through the signing of a cooperation agreement and the handover of two electric motorcycles as part of a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.

This assistance is intended to support student research activities, particularly in the field of new and renewable energy, while also contributing to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

The cooperation agreement covers three main points: research collaboration between UNNES Electrical Engineering lecturers and students, a student internship program at PT Pertamina Retail, and lecturer involvement in industry to bring practical insights into classroom learning. The entire series of activities was formulated through a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) of the CSR ESA (Energy Sustainability Academy) PT Pertamina Retail, held on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at COCO 41.502.02 Sultan Agung Semarang gas station, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. WIB.

The event concluded with the signing of a memorandum of understanding and the symbolic handover of two electric motorcycles from PT Pertamina Retail to the Electrical Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, UNNES. These electric motorcycles will be utilized by students as research instruments for developing environmentally friendly transportation technologies, including studies on drive systems, battery management, and integration with renewable energy sources.

The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, UNNES, Prof. Dr. Wirawan Sumbodo, M.T., expressed his appreciation for this collaboration. He conveyed his hope that the partnership would encourage students to continuously sharpen their innovative and creative ideas and implement them in the professional sphere. He also emphasized the importance of sustaining this collaboration to produce high-quality engineering graduates ready to compete both nationally and internationally.

This assistance reflects PT Pertamina Retail’s commitment to advancing clean technology innovation while supporting higher education in Indonesia. With this research facility, it is expected that UNNES Electrical Engineering students will be increasingly motivated to produce innovative works that contribute to the development of green energy technologies and to the achievement of SDGs at both national and global levels.
