The CUPT-CRISU Conference is an annual forum bringing together the Council of University Presidents of Thailand (CUPT) and the Council of Rectors of Indonesian State Universities (CRISU). This year, it was held in the Indonesian Capital City from August 24-26, 2025. The conference aimed to strengthen educational cooperation between the two countries through academic dialogue, research, and institutional collaboration.
The Faculty of Engineering, Semarang State University (UNNES), represented by the Dean of FT UNNES, Prof. Dr. Wirawan Sumbodo, M.T., and the Vice Dean for Business, Research, and Cooperation, Rusiyanto, S.Pd., M.T., had the opportunity to engage in direct discussions with Associate Professor Dr. Janya Chanchaichujit from Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Thailand, participated in the 16th CUPT-CRISU. The discussion addressed joint research, lecturer and student exchanges, and the development of collaborative academic programs.
On another occasion, the Faculty of Engineering, UNNES, and the Faculty of Engineering and Industrial Education, UPI, had the opportunity to collaborate to strengthen the Tri Dharma (Three Pillars of Higher Education) and develop university resources.
The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Industrial Education, UPI, Dr. Eng. Agus Setiawan, M.Si., and the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, UNNES, Prof. Dr. Wirawan Sumbodo, M.T., agreed to establish a partnership with shared goals. These goals include a lecturer capacity building program, a lecturer engagement program in industry, a student industrial internship program, a community service program, a collaborative research program, a curriculum development resource person program, and an industry practitioner lecturer program, all of which can be enhanced.
Through these two collaborations, the Faculty of Engineering, UNNES, helps achieve SDG point 17 (Partnerships to Achieve Goals), which will enhance the university’s international recognition.
The following day, the Faculty of Engineering (FT) UNNES leadership had the opportunity to plant tree seedlings to realize a green, sustainable lifestyle in the area surrounding the new capital city on August 26, 2025. The Dean of FT UNNES, Prof. Dr. Wirawan Sumbodo, M.T., stated that the activity also supported SDG 15, namely Life on Land.
