The visit and exchange of views organized by the Hiroshima Prefectural Government took place from October 20 to December 17, 2025. This program was attended by six participants from Indonesia and Vietnam as part of efforts to strengthen international cooperation in the fields of education, industry, and support for the global community. One of the participants from Indonesia was Heni Hernawati, a representative of Semarang State University (UNNES) from the Japanese Language Education Study Program.
The series of activities included visits to a number of universities, namely Hiroshima University, Hiroshima Jogakuen University, Hiroshima Kougyou University, and Hijiyama University. During this event, participants engaged in discussions on higher education systems, campus internationalization, and research and curriculum development. These activities are in line with SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), which emphasize the importance of education and innovation as the foundation for sustainable development.
In addition to educational institutions, participants also visited Logicom to understand the link between education and industry needs. Discussions highlighted human resource development, graduate employability, and sustainable innovation, which support SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).
The visit to Hiroshima International House and the International Student Support service provided insight into the support system for international students, particularly in creating an inclusive and equitable environment. This activity reflects the implementation of SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) and the strengthening of global access to education. Interaction with the Hiroshima Indonesia Association also strengthened cultural and educational networks between Japan and Indonesia, in line with SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
In addition, the dialogue with Hiroshima Prefecture officials discussed international education policies and regional cooperation. This meeting demonstrated the important role of local government in building inclusive and sustainable institutions, in line with SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).
Through this activity, participants gained a comprehensive understanding of the role of education, industry, and government in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
