The Faculty of Sports Science at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) is proud to host the International Conference on Physical Education, Health, and Sports (ICOPHS) 2023. The event occurs from Wednesday to Thursday (June 21-22) at the Patra Hotel & Convention in Semarang.

ICOPHS 2023 aims to unveil and discuss the significant role of the sports industry in advancing the field of sports science and promoting the physical health of society. This conference will serve as a platform for academics, researchers, practitioners, and professionals in sports science to exchange information, ideas, and insights regarding the latest developments in the sports industry.

Notable keynote speakers from domestic and international sports academia and industry will attend the event. They will present various intriguing topics such as sports facility management, team and athlete management, technological innovations in sports, athlete nutrition, health, and sports programs’ development in various communities.

The keynote speakers include Prof. Dr. Zainudin Amali, M.Si. (Indonesia) and Assoc. Prof. Koh Koon Teck, Ph.D. (Singapore). This annual event will also feature invited speakers Prof. Chia-Hua Kuo, Ph.D. (Taiwan), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siti Baitul M., M.Si.Med. (Indonesia).

Prof. Dr. Zaenuri, M.Si., Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Student Affairs at UNNES, stated that ICOPHS 2023 presents an excellent opportunity for professionals and stakeholders in sports science to share knowledge and experiences.

“We hope this event can foster collaboration between the academic world and the sports industry to enhance the quality of athlete training and contribute meaningfully to public health,” expressed the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Professor.

In his report on the event, Donny Wira Yudha Kusuma, M.Pd., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Student Affairs at the Faculty of Sports Science, explained that the conference attracted over 200 attendees, including 110 oral presentation speakers and 106 registered participants from 15 universities across various countries, including Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and Indonesia.

“We would like to extend our highest appreciation to the delegations from Universiti Teknologi Mara Malaysia, Chulalongkorn University Thailand, Nanyang Technological University Singapore, Sungkyunkwan University South Korea, Nippon Sport Science University Japan, University of Taipei Taiwan, Universiti Sains Malaysia, and Universitas Negeri Semarang Indonesia,” he elaborated.

In addition to conference sessions, ICOPHS 2023 will offer interactive presentations and panel discussions focusing on current issues in the sports industry. Participants can expand their professional networks and foster collaborations with relevant stakeholders.

The organization of ICOPHS 2023 demonstrates the commitment of the Faculty of Sports Science at UNNES to use education and the sports industry as means to advance sports, enhance the physical health of society, and cultivate citizens who are more aware of the importance of sports and active participation in social life. Through this initiative, the Faculty of Sports Science at UNNES aims to catalyze sustainable development in the sports industry and significantly contribute to the advancement of sports and public health in this increasingly digital era.
