Malaysia, July 18, 2025 – To realize its vision of achieving a global reputation for science, the Master of Science Education Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Universiti Malaya, Malaysia, on Friday, July 18, 2025. The event was attended by the Coordinator of the Master of Science Education Study Program, all FMIPA UNNES lecturers, and students.
The signing of this memorandum of understanding is expected to strengthen synergy and collaboration between FMIPA and Universiti Malaya in the areas of education, research, and community service. The Coordinator of the Master of Science Education Study Program, Mr. Arif Widiyatmoko, S.Pd., M.Pd., Ph.D., stated that this partnership will open up new opportunities for FMIPA students and lecturers to improve the quality of education and research activities. This effort is in line with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 on Quality Education, which emphasizes the importance of inclusive and equitable education and lifelong learning opportunities.
On the same occasion, students and lecturers participated in a special lecture and campus tour of the Faculty of Education, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. This activity broadens students’ understanding of the Malaysian education system and allows them to interact directly with the academic environment and research and innovation support facilities at a Southeast Asian university. Through this activity, students can observe science learning at Universiti Malaya and build a cross-border academic network that supports the development of students’ global competencies. Such collaboration also reflects SDG 17 on Partnerships for the Goals, as it highlights the importance of international cooperation in strengthening education, research, and community service.
