Semarang, October 2025 – The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 15: Life on Land, through educational and collaborative initiatives. One of these efforts is the upcoming Public Lecture titled “Getting to Know More About the Role, Function, and Management of General Conservation Institutions in Indonesia”, which will be delivered by representatives from Jagat Satwa TMII.
This public lecture is designed to broaden students’ understanding of the crucial role conservation institutions play in protecting Indonesia’s rich biodiversity and ecosystems. Participants will gain valuable insights into the management and operational strategies of conservation organizations, as well as their contribution to sustainable environmental protection.
According to Vice Dean I of FMIPA, Mr. Zaenal Abidin, Ph.D., this activity aligns with FMIPA’s vision to integrate sustainability and conservation awareness into higher education.
“Through this public lecture, we hope students not only gain theoretical knowledge but also develop a sense of responsibility and awareness toward biodiversity conservation as part of global sustainability efforts,” he stated.
This initiative is also a part of FMIPA’s continuous efforts to enhance the quality of education and research in biology and environmental sciences. By collaborating with Jagat Satwa TMII, FMIPA seeks to build a bridge between academic learning and real-world conservation practices, ensuring that future scientists are well-equipped to contribute to Indonesia’s environmental sustainability goals.
Through activities like this, FMIPA reaffirms its role as an educational institution committed to advancing SDG 15—promoting the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, halting biodiversity loss, and fostering environmental stewardship among the academic community.
