The Faculty of Education and Psychology (FIPP) of Universitas Negeri Semarang held a Workshop on Developing Research Proposals Based on Scopus-indexed journal Publication Standards on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. This activity aimed to improve the academic capacity of lecturers in designing conceptually and methodologically robust research proposals, while also aligning them with the publication standards of reputable international journals.
This workshop is part of FIPP UNNES’s strategy to strengthen a culture of excellent research and encourage an increase in the quality and quantity of scientific publications in Scopus-indexed journals, particularly in the fields of education and psychology. Participants received training on formulating research problems based on novelty, strengthening theoretical frameworks, ensuring accurate methodological design, and strategies for aligning research proposals with the focus and scope of reputable international journals.
The event was officially opened by the Dean of FIPP UNNES, Edy Purwanto, M.Si., who emphasized that strengthening lecturers’ capacity in developing research proposals is a crucial foundation for improving research quality, the institution’s academic reputation, and the university’s contribution to addressing national and global educational challenges.
The workshop featured Yoppy Wahyu Purnomo, S.Pd., M.Pd., Professor of the Faculty of Education, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, as a speaker. He shared his academic experiences, best practices, and strategies for developing research proposals with a high probability of being published in Scopus-indexed journals. The discussion and in-depth discussion were moderated by Achmad Miftachul ‘Ilmi, S.Pd., M.Pd.
This workshop aligns with the National Research Master Plan (RIRN) for human resource development, quality education, and strengthening of social sciences and humanities clusters, which positions educational and psychological research as strategic instruments for improving the quality of Indonesian human resources. It also contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through strengthening evidence-based educational research; SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through improving the quality of psychology and mental health research; and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through strengthening cross-institutional academic networks and collaboration. It also supports the national development goals of developing superior, adaptive, and globally competitive human resources, as well as developing a research and innovation ecosystem for higher education institutions that has a tangible impact on national education development.
Through the Workshop on Compiling Research Proposals Based on Scopus-Indexed Journal Publication Standards, FIPP UNNES reaffirms its commitment to building a productive and collaborative research ecosystem oriented towards internationally reputable publications. It also strengthens the role of higher education institutions in producing quality, relevant, and impactful educational and psychological research for society.
