The Faculty of Economics and Business, Semarang State University (FEB UNNES) has reaffirmed its commitment to realizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through active involvement in the Sambut Thudong Indonesia 2025 activity. This time, FEB UNNES is also supporting the spiritual journey of Thudong monks in Semarang as an actual form of implementing SDG 16 on peace, justice, and strong institutions.
Eli Dwi Astuti, S.Si., an educational staff member of FEB UNNES, was officially assigned to accompany the series of events from the Tai Kak Sie Gang Lombok Temple to the Semarang Regency Hall. This activity is not only a means of interfaith friendship but also a symbol of the importance of cross-cultural dialogue in building a harmonious society.
Synergy for a More Inclusive Society
The Dean of FEB emphasized that this involvement aligns with the faculty’s vision. As an educational institution, we not only focus on academic achievement but also character building based on the values of tolerance and respect for diversity. This is a form of FEB’s contribution to creating a just, peaceful, and inclusive society.
The Sambut Thudong activity is a spiritual tradition that encourages self-reflection and brotherhood. Through this mentoring, FEB UNNES also strengthens the role of higher education in promoting peace and social justice—two main pillars of SDG 16.
Sustainable Commitment
FEB UNNES has long been active in various initiatives that support the SDGs, ranging from inclusive entrepreneurship programs to environmental campaigns. In the future, the faculty plans to expand collaboration with local and national stakeholders to advocate for issues of diversity and peace. FEB always strives to be a catalyst for change, starting from small things like this mentoring, to other strategic programs.
