The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Negeri Semarang (FEB UNNES), has taken a major step forward in educational innovation with the official launch of three state-of-the-art SmartClass rooms. The launch event was held at the L4 Building of FEB UNNES, introducing a series of advanced learning facilities designed to transform classroom experiences into more interactive, adaptive, and digitally driven environments.
Each SmartClass is fully equipped with integrated modern technology:
- Three high-quality microphones for comprehensive room audio capture,
- Three AI-enabled smart cameras that track the movement of both lecturers and students dynamically,
- Interactive touch screens with embedded cameras,
- And advanced software systems built into each smart TV for seamless integration.
This innovation aligns directly with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, especially Target 4.4, which emphasizes the enhancement of professional and technical skills through equitable access to information and communication technology (ICT).
According to Prof. Dr. Amir Mahmud, S.Pd., M.Si, Dean of FEB UNNES, “These SmartClassrooms are not just tools for teaching; they are an infrastructure for shaping the future of higher education.”
This initiative also supports SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, by building a resilient and modern learning ecosystem in response to the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4.0). With this infrastructure, both faculty and students can explore new possibilities in creative teaching, hybrid learning, and digital collaboration.
The SmartClassrooms aim to transform conventional teaching methods into immersive and engaging learning experiences. Lecturers can deliver content more creatively, while students benefit from collaborative and tech-supported learning.
To ensure optimal use of these facilities, regular training and workshops are planned. FEB UNNES also expressed commitment to replicate this model across the faculty and continue to lead in the integration of technology in economic and business education in Indonesia.
