The Faculty of Languages and Arts (FBS), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), has established an academic collaboration with Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Thailand, marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on August 25, 2025.
The agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Tommi Yuniawan, M.Hum., Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Arts, Universitas Negeri Semarang, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Janya Chanchaichujit, Assistant President for Promotion of Foreign Affairs, representing PSU.
The signing took place during a series of international academic engagements in Indonesia’s new capital city, Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN), from August 24-26, 2025. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in strengthening academic cooperation between Indonesia and Thailand, particularly in the fields of language, culture, and arts.
Prof. Tommi Yuniawan expressed that the MoA aims to foster mutual academic growth through various joint programs.
“Through this partnership, both institutions will engage in student and faculty exchanges, joint research, and collaborative publications that contribute to the advancement of education and cultural understanding,” he stated.
He further explained that the agreement underscores the shared mission of both institutions to promote lifelong learning and enhance the quality of higher education. The implementation of programs will adhere to each institution’s regulations and available resources.
The scope of the collaboration includes, but is not limited to, teaching initiatives, joint research, academic conferences, and scholarly publications.
In addition to PSU, FBS UNNES also plans to expand academic collaboration with other Thai universities, such as Mae Fah Luang University and Walailak University, to further enhance international partnerships and research excellence.
