The Master’s Program in English Language Education at the Faculty of Languages and Arts, Universitas Negeri Semarang (FBS UNNES), held an academic event titled Focus Group Discussion and Research Gallery Walk on Friday, June 13, 2025. This initiative aimed to strengthen research culture, enhance research visibility, and promote collaboration among postgraduate students and scholars in the field of English language education.

The event took place in Room B11-103 at FBS UNNES and was officially opened by the Dean of FBS UNNES, Prof. Dr. Tommi Yuniawan, M.Hum., alongside the Coordinator of the Master’s Program in English Language Education, Dr. Sri Wahyuni, S.Pd., M.Pd. Running from 08.00 to 16.00 WIB, the event featured a combination of formal panel discussions and academic poster presentations in a gallery format.

The Focus Group Discussion (FGD) featured three invited speakers from various universities: Dr. Ika Wahyuni Lestari, M.Hum. (Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta), Dr. Novia Trisanti, M.Pd. (Universitas Negeri Semarang), and Dr. Siti Aimah, M.Pd. (Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang).

Postgraduate students from the program actively participated by presenting their research in two distinct formats: Focus Group Discussion: Small-group sessions offering direct feedback from the invited experts, and Research Gallery Walk: Poster presentations in an open space designed to facilitate interactive discussions and peer dialogue.

Through this event, the English Master’s Program at FBS UNNES reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a collaborative and research-oriented academic culture. Students were encouraged to develop critical thinking, expand their scholarly networks, and engage in cross-institutional academic exchanges.

This initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 on Quality Education and SDG 17 on Partnerships for the Goals. The success of this event represents a tangible step toward producing critically minded graduates who are prepared to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of English language education at both the national and global levels.
