Psychology UNNES – Saturday, March 8, 2025, The Psychology Study Program of Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) once again held a public lecture aimed at introducing students to real-world professionals. Under the theme “Be A Master in Recruitment and Selection: Learn and Practice with Professionals”, the event provided students with practical learning and insights into the recruitment and selection process.
The lecture was conducted online with practitioner Imam Maulana, S.Psi. as the main speaker, and was moderated by Lutfi Fitra Ferdyandhika.
The speaker elaborated on the comprehensive stages of recruitment up to employee onboarding. These included:
- Pre-advertising: job analysis and position evaluation.
- Job advertising: how to create an informative and attractive job vacancy.
- Selection process: aptitude tests, Focus Group Discussions (FGD), Leaderless Group Discussions (LGD), interviews, and psychological tests.
- Binding and uniformization: employment contracts, onboarding training, and BPJS (social security) registration.
Beyond recruitment, the speaker also introduced participants to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as a tool for performance evaluation, along with tips on how recruiters assess candidates based on personality, competence, and work experience.
“It was really exciting to learn directly from a practitioner, because we were given a lot of real-world information and illustrations of how things work in the field. I got so many insights,” said Najwa Haq Filhal, one of the participants.
Through this public lecture, students not only gained a theoretical understanding of recruitment and selection but also learned how these processes are applied in professional practice. Equipped with both theory and practice, psychology students at UNNES are expected to be more confident and competent in facing the professional world.
