Purwodadi, Central Java – In the midst of loud cheers from spectators and the fast-paced movement of the ball on the court, the whistle of a referee becomes a symbol of discipline and fairness in the game. That whistle is blown by Dicky Budhi Setyawan, S.Pd., M.Pd., a lecturer of the Primary School Physical Education Study Programme, Faculty of Sports Science (FIK), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), who was entrusted as a futsal referee in the Qualification Round of the 17th Central Java Provincial Sports Week (PORPROV) 2026. The event took place from 23 to 26 October 2024 at GOR Bung Karno, Purwodadi, Central Java.
For Dicky, being a referee is not merely about carrying out the technical duty of leading a match, but also a concrete form of service and love for the world of sports. Behind every whistle he blows lie values of sportsmanship, integrity, and firmness—values that he also instils in his students in the classroom.
Through his dual role as an educator and referee, Dicky Budhi Setyawan demonstrates that the spirit of service knows no boundaries. The whistle he blows on the futsal court is not only a signal to start the match, but also a symbol of a lecturer’s dedication in promoting sportsmanship, honesty, and fair play among the younger generation.
Dicky’s contribution is closely aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). As a lecturer, he provides holistic education that goes beyond theory by integrating character building, sportsmanship, and integrity into learning. As a referee, he upholds fairness, discipline, and ethical conduct on the field—fundamental values for nurturing a just and peaceful society. Together, these roles reflect UNNES’s commitment to shaping future generations who are not only competent, but also principled and respectful of fair play in all aspects of life.
