This initiative is part of FMIPA UNNES\u2019s commitment to ensuring water quality while supporting sustainable campus environmental management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On September 1, 2026, FMIPA UNNES conducted a microbiological water quality test on drinking water taps within the faculty. Water samples were collected from Building D12 (FMIPA Dean\u2019s Office) and Building D9 (Physics Laboratory) and analyzed for the presence of <em>Escherichia coli<\/em> (E. coli). Sterile distilled water was used as a negative control.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"569\" height=\"758\" src=\"https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/mipa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2026\/09\/image-20.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21845\" srcset=\"https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/mipa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2026\/09\/image-20.png 569w, https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/mipa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2026\/09\/image-20-225x300.png 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 569px) 100vw, 569px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The test results showed that all samples had an <em>E. coli<\/em> count of 0 CFU\/100 mL. This indicates that <strong><em>E. coli<\/em> was not detected in the tested water samples<\/strong> based on the microbiological parameter examined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to testing drinking water quality, FMIPA UNNES also conducted water sampling and quality measurements at the UNNES Reservoir (Embung UNNES) on January 11, 2026. The sampling and measurements were carried out by students from the Environmental Science Study Program, FMIPA UNNES, as part of practical learning and field-based environmental monitoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The UNNES Reservoir was selected as a sampling location due to its connection with the water drainage system around FMIPA. Water from drainage channels within the FMIPA area, including flows from the Water Treatment Plant (IPA) area near Building D8, flows toward the UNNES Reservoir. Therefore, the reservoir serves as an important monitoring point for assessing the quality of water receiving flows from the campus area. Measurements were conducted at two sampling points, covering several physical and chemical parameters, including color, temperature, turbidity, pH, and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS). The results showed that both sampling points had green-colored water, with temperatures of 28.4\u00b0C and 28.6\u00b0C, respectively. Turbidity values were 36.5 and 41.5, while the pH was 8 and TDS was 150 at both sampling points.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"975\" height=\"650\" src=\"https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/mipa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2026\/09\/image-18.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21843\" srcset=\"https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/mipa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2026\/09\/image-18.png 975w, https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/mipa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2026\/09\/image-18-300x200.png 300w, https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/mipa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2026\/09\/image-18-768x512.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 975px) 100vw, 975px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The water quality monitoring provides baseline data to support more targeted and sustainable environmental management at FMIPA UNNES. The results can serve as a basis for monitoring changes in water quality, maintaining campus environmental cleanliness, and identifying potential issues in drainage systems and water bodies. For the academic community and surrounding communities, these efforts contribute to maintaining environmental quality and supporting public health, particularly through water quality monitoring and the prevention of potential pollution that could affect the surrounding environment.
