Improperly disposed batik waste can contribute to the degradation of river ecosystems and even harm marine life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rambutan is a fruit commonly grown in the vicinity of Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES). This is directly related to the abundance of rambutan peel waste, a problem that has yet to be effectively addressed.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"529\" height=\"705\" src=\"https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/mipa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2023\/10\/IMG_3581.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13711\" srcset=\"https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/mipa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2023\/10\/IMG_3581.jpeg 529w, https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/mipa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2023\/10\/IMG_3581-225x300.jpeg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 529px) 100vw, 529px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Given this issue, students from UNNES have come up with an innovative solution by making use of the surplus rambutan peel waste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rambutan peel waste contains significant components, namely 24% cellulose and 35% lignin, which makes it a potential source for producing adsorbents to reduce liquid waste in the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The students involved in creating adsorbents from rambutan peel waste are Azra Putri Nurhaliza (Biology &#8217;21), Nevta Fatikha Ariyani (Biology &#8217;21), Astrid Farmayati (Biology &#8217;21), Resah Aprianti (Chemical Engineering &#8217;21), and Kakalia Putri Auralita (Chemical Engineering &#8217;21), under the guidance of Dr. Talitha Widiatningrum, M.Si., Ph.D., a lecturer at FMIPA UNNES.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, the PKM-RE team&#8217;s project is ongoing and has reached a testing phase at a basic level.
