The Community Service Team of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas NegeriSemarang (UNNES), conducted a Science Learning Training based on STEM for teachers at the Indonesian School in Kuala Lumpur (SIKL) on Wednesday (12\/7\/2023).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This activity is part of the university’s tridharma, namely community service (PkM) abroad. The Community Service Team consists of three lecturers: Dr. Sugianto, M.Sc., Prof. Dr. Ani Rusilowati, M.Pd., and Arif Widiyatmoko, Ph.D.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aim of this community service activity is to equip teachers at SIKL with knowledge and skills to innovate in STEM-based science learning. One form of educational reform that can assist teachers in addressing 21st-century issues is the use of the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) approach. STEM serves as an approach to science learning that guides students’ thinking patterns like scientists. Through STEM-based science learning, students are guided to become problem solvers, inventors, innovators, independent thinkers, technologically literate, and capable of connecting STEM education with the real world. Therefore, it is important for teachers to implement STEM-based science learning at present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The activity began with an opening speech by the Headmistress of SIKL, Mrs. Friny Napasti, S.Pd., M.Pd., followed by a presentation by Prof. Ani Rusilowati on STEM Learning and its Evaluation, and continued by Arif Widiyatmoko, Ph.D., on the practice of innovative STEM-based science learning. The teachers participated in two experiments: the drop egg challenge and the straw bridge. The teachers involved in this activity were very enthusiastic and interested in trying STEM-based learning innovations for other subjects.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
