Ma’rifah tidak hanya berhasil mengibarkan bendera Merah Putih di puncak Gunung Elbrush, tepat pada Hari Kemerdekaan Republik Indonesia, 17 Agustus lalu. Mahasiswa Jurusan Pendidikan Geografi Fakultas Ilmu Sosial (FIS) Unnes  ini juga tercatat sebagai perempuan pertama  Indonesia yang mendaki puncak gunung tertinggi di Eropa.

Sebagaimana diberitakan di unnes.ac.id, dia mencapai ketinggian 5.642 meter di atas permukaan laut (dpl) bersama kedua rekanya satu tim, Manikmaya Waskitojati dan Mifthakul Ulum.

Informasi ini didapat dari salah satu staf marketing Alpindustria-Tour Adventure Team, Victoria Voroshilova. Dia mengatakan, Ma’rifah merupakan wanita pertama Indonesia yang mencapai puncak Mt. Elbrus dari sisi utara.

Lantas, apa istimewanya sisi utara dibandingkan dengan sisi lain? Ketua Panitia Khaerul Hamzah menjelaskan, sisi utara, merupakan jalur dengan tingkat kesulitan lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan sisi selatan.

“Fasilitas yang minim serta pendakian harus dilakukan secara bertahap, karena jalurnya lebih panjang. Tidak seperti sisi selatan yang merupakan jalur pilihan utama bagi pendaki pada umumnya, karena dipermudah dengan fasilitas kereta gantung yang akan meringankan pendaki untuk mencapai ketinggian tertentu. Hut atau penginapan kecil dengan pemanas ruangan pun tersedia di setiap base camp untuk menginap para pendaki. Setiap saat, mobil salju hilir-mudik untuk mengawasi dan mengangkut para pendaki dan para penggila olahraga ski,” katanya.

Namun dengan semangat dan daya juang yang tinggi, lanjut Khaerul,  mereka berhasil menancapkan Merah Putih di puncak tertinggi Eropa pada 17 Agustus 2011 pukul 16.45 waktu setempat. “Mereka juga mengibarkan bendera Universitas Negeri Semarang, meski sehari semalam sebelumnya diterjang badai salju yang hebat,” katanya.

Selain misi pengibaran bendera, tim juga melakukan tukar informasi pariwisata dan budaya Indonesia kepada para wisatawan asing lain yang dijumpai, seperti saat di penginapan. Tim pun berdiskusi bersama Perhimpunan Mahasiswa Indonesia di Rusia (Permira) dengan topik schoolarship, lingkungan hidup, sosial, budaya, dan pariwisata Indonesia-Rusia. Selain itu, tim melakukan studi banding tentang pengelolaan SAR dan Taman Nasional di Gunung Elbrush serta sehari berdialog dengan Kedutaan Besar di Moskow.

Senin (22/8) sesuai dengan jadwal, tim akan tiba kembali di Semarang pukul 18.30 WIB.
