{"id":1143,"date":"2013-09-25T08:48:55","date_gmt":"2013-09-25T08:48:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lp2m.unnes.ac.id\/?p=1143"},"modified":"2013-09-25T08:48:55","modified_gmt":"2013-09-25T08:48:55","slug":"indonesia-usaid-peer-science-application","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unnes.ac.id\/lppm\/indonesia-usaid-peer-science-application","title":{"rendered":"Indonesia USAID PEER Science Application"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mail.unnes.ac.id\/service\/home\/~\/?auth=co&amp;id=3635&amp;part=4\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"73\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mail.unnes.ac.id\/service\/home\/~\/?auth=co&amp;id=3635&amp;part=2\" alt=\"\" width=\"580\" height=\"131\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Call for Applications for PEER Science Round 3<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>PEER Science <\/strong>(Partnerships for Enhanced Engagement in Research) program is now open and accepting proposals from Indonesian researchers interested in collaborating with U.S. counterparts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PEER grants are up to $150,000 for up to 3 years<\/strong> and can support a range of research activities including but not limited to fieldwork, students, travel, equipment, training, etc.<\/p>\n<p><strong>**<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">The application deadline is\u00a0December 16, 2013<\/span>**<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalacademies.org\/peerscience\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.nationalacademies.org\/peerscience<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>PEER Science<\/strong> is a partnership between the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the National Science Foundation (NSF) that is designed to address development challenges through international research collaboration. This competitive grants program allows scientists in Indonesia to apply for funds to support research and capacity-building activities in partnership with their NSF-funded collaborators on topics of importance to USAID\/Indonesia. Research areas include but are not limited to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Food security topics such as agricultural development, fisheries, and plant genomics<\/li>\n<li>Climate change impacts such as water sustainability, hydrology, ocean acidification, climate process and modeling, and environmental engineering<\/li>\n<li>Other development topics including disaster mitigation, biodiversity, water, and renewable energy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>USAID\/Indonesia has dedicated funding for Indonesian research projects. This means that a relatively large number of awards will be made in Indonesia. Examples of previously awarded Indonesian projects include:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Universitas Gunadarma and Harvard University:<\/strong> Citizen science solutions for national biodiversity data needs: developing a plant checklist for West Kalimantan, Indonesia<\/p>\n<p><strong>Universitas Udayana and University of California, Los Angeles: <\/strong>Connecting Science and Management through Biodiversity Research and Collaboration<\/p>\n<p><strong>Indonesian Institute of Sciences and University of Maryland &#8211; College Park:<\/strong> Tree Isotope Records of Past Rainfall Variability in the Indonesian Maritime Region<\/p>\n<p><strong>Universitas Indonesia and University of California, Santa Cruz:<\/strong> Transforming Undergraduate STEM Experiences Through The Next Generation of Scientists and Engineer Educators<\/p>\n<p><strong>Universitas Hasanuddin and University of California, Davis:<\/strong> Combating Seagrass Decline: Developing a Restoration Manual for Indonesia and the Coral Triangle<\/p>\n<p><strong>Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) and University of California, Davis:<\/strong> Exploring the dynamic of extreme weather events in Indonesia using large scale meteorological pattern as the forecast guidance<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All applicants must have a U.S. collaborator with an active NSF award.
