Encouraging sustainable crop production, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) officially launched UNNES Ecofarm on Friday (20\/09\/2024) in the IKM Garden Area of \u200b\u200bthe UNNES Faculty of Sports Science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The activity, which was attended by the Chancellor, leadership, and academic community of UNNES, aims to introduce UNNES Ecofarm, which has been pioneered for a long time as part of an effort to meet the plant and animal collection indicators in UI Greenmetric.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
UNNES Ecofarm is now located on an area of \u200b\u200b3,270 m\u00b2, after previously covering an area of \u200b\u200b5,500 m\u00b2 with some of the land having been built for new facilities. The products offered include hydroponic vegetables, planting media, and ornamental plants, as well as training in hydroponic cultivation and fruit plant nurseries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We are optimistic that UNNES Ecofarm consumers will increase in the future because the number of UNNES lecturers and education staff has approached 2,000 people, and the number of students is also increasing,” said the Head of the Conservation Sub-Directorate, Prof. Dr. Amin Retnoningsih, M.Sc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
UNNES Rector, Prof. Dr. S Martono, M.Sc. emphasized that UNNES Ecofarm is not just a place of business, but also a place of learning that utilizes every empty land optimally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The business ecosystem needs to be built well, and the fostered villages managed by LPPM can be an alternative for managing and distributing UNNES Ecofarm’s production results in the future,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the support of various units at UNNES, it is hoped that UNNES Ecofarm can provide benefits to the environment and support sustainability and conservation in the campus environment.
