Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), through the Science and Environmental Cluster of FMIPA, held the 16th National Science Seminar on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the Prof. Wuryanto Auditorium. The seminar carried the theme \u201cExcellence in Science Education and Environmental Science for Disaster Literacy\u201d in response to global environmental challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The seminar served as an academic forum to discuss the importance of strengthening science and environmental education in building disaster literacy. It was also part of the 61st UNNES anniversary celebration and the 16th anniversary of the Science and Environmental Cluster of FMIPA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three keynote speakers participated in the seminar: Dr. Iwan Junaedi, M.Pd., Prof. Dr. Tri Retnaningsih Soeprobowati, M.App.Sc., and Dr. Muhamad Taufiq, S.Pd., M.Pd. In his presentation, Dr. Iwan Junaedi emphasized the importance of deep learning approaches. \u201cLearning should not focus solely on memorization but must develop meaningful understanding and critical thinking skills,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Tri Retnaningsih Soeprobowati discussed hydrometeorological disasters and the importance of disaster literacy in addressing environmental changes. \u201cStrengthening mitigation efforts based on local wisdom is key to building community resilience,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Muhamad Taufiq highlighted the strategic role of education in fostering disaster awareness. \u201cStudents as future educators and scientists play a crucial role in developing a disaster-responsive culture in society,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The seminar was attended by around 400 participants from 19 provinces across Indonesia, including academics, teachers, students, and practitioners. The high level of participation reflects strong interest in science education, environmental issues, and disaster literacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This activity supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
