Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), through its Subdirectorate of Conservation, in collaboration with the Semarang City Environmental Agency (DLH), successfully organized an Environmental Campaign to commemorate Earth Day, which is observed annually on April 22. The campaign was carried out on Sunday, April 26, 2026, during the Car Free Day (CFD) at Simpang Lima, Semarang, and took place from early morning, engaging a wide cross-section of the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This environmental campaign reflected UNNES\u2019s strong commitment as a conservation-oriented university to increasing public awareness of environmental protection. Public enthusiasm at the Simpang Lima CFD area was notably high, as seen in the active participation of community members who listened attentively to the campaign messages and interacted directly with campaign volunteers throughout the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The environmental campaign featured a public address by Dr. Ir. Ananto Aji, M.S., Head of the Section for Character Values, Arts, and Culture at the UNNES Subdirectorate of Conservation. In the address, Dr. Ananto emphasized that Earth Day should not be regarded merely as an annual ceremony, but as a moment of collective reflection to foster environmentally conscious character through concrete actions, such as energy conservation, waste reduction, and sustainable environmental stewardship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Nana Kariada Tri Martuti, M.Si., Head of the UNNES Subdirectorate of Conservation, delivered an important reminder that today\u2019s environmental challenges cannot be addressed individually. The professor highlighted the importance of collaboration and consistent environmentally friendly behavior in daily life as tangible contributions to safeguarding the planet for future generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The campaign was attended and supported by various stakeholders, including Akar Banir Foundation, Green Community of UNNES Biology, Conservation Student Activity Unit (UKM Konservasi), UNNES SDGs Center, and the UNNES Conservation Team. In line with the Earth Day 2026 theme, the activity contributed to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 13 (Climate Action) through public education and environmental advocacy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
