<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students of the Counselor Professional Education Program (PPK) at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) carried out field practice activities at a Women\u2019s Correctional Institution as part of experiential learning and community engagement. Conducted in March 2026, this activity was not merely an academic requirement but also an effort to create a humane and supportive environment that fosters empowerment and personal growth among female inmates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the field practice, PPK UNNES students provided individual and group counseling services, psychoeducation sessions, and various self-development activities. Through an empathetic and participatory approach, inmates were encouraged to recognize their personal strengths, manage emotions in healthier ways, and rebuild self-confidence while planning for a more positive future. This activity served as both a meaningful learning experience for students and a tangible contribution of higher education institutions to addressing social challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The field practice directly contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 5 on Gender Equality, by promoting the empowerment of women and ensuring equitable access to counseling and self-development services. The inclusive counseling approach reflects a commitment to gender equality, emphasizing that women, including those in correctional settings, have equal rights to psychological support and opportunities for growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the activity aligns with SDG 4 on Quality Education by implementing contextual and application-based learning in higher education. Through direct engagement with real social environments, PPK UNNES students are trained to become professional counselors who are not only academically competent but also socially aware and sensitive to humanitarian issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From a broader social perspective, this field practice also supports SDG 10 on Reduced Inequalities by expanding access to psychological support for vulnerable groups. The collaboration between UNNES and the Women\u2019s Prison highlights the strategic role of universities in reducing social disparities through education, counseling services, and sustainable cross-sector partnerships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through this activity, UNNES reaffirms its commitment to sustainable development and community empowerment.
