Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) has established a cross-border collaboration with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Pulau Pinang, Malaysia, through a Summer Camp program that will take place from August 12\u201317, 2025. For six days, participants from both campuses will participate in a series of academic, cultural, and environmental activities as a form of collaborative sustainable education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
UNNES Vice Rector I, Prof. Dr. Zaenuri, M.Si., Akt., expressed his appreciation for the program. He stated that Indonesia and Malaysia are like a family with many shared cultures and values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“One of the Summer Camp agendas is tree planting, as part of UNNES’s commitment to becoming a conservation campus and implementing Sustainable Development Goal 15, Life on Land,” he explained when met at the UNNES Rectorate Field in Semarang on Wednesday (August 15, 2025).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
UiTM Associate Lecturer, Prof. Dr. Khanom Binti Simarani, expressed her appreciation for the warm welcome from UNNES.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We hope this collaboration will continue to thrive. We are grateful for the excellent service, diverse activities, and opportunities to exchange knowledge and new experiences,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Summer Camp program opened on August 13th with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoA), tree planting, a campus tour, and academic classes by guest lecturers. The following days included idea pitching, an industrial visit to PT Kuria (Malibu), a cultural tour of Sam Poo Kong, Lawang Sewu, and Kota Lama, and a social gathering and certificate presentation for visiting lecturers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The program concluded on August 17th with a ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia at the FIK UNNES Field, before the group returned to Malaysia.
