Tim dari Jurusan Teknik Elektro Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes), memberikan praktik efisiensi konsumsi listrik tenaga surya dan energi baru terbarukan (EBT) bayu, belum lama ini. (sm/dok)

Santri Panti Asuhan Al-Huda Petompon, Gajahmungkur, Semarang mendapat pelatihan Konservasi Energi dan Energi Baru Terbarukan (EBT) dari Tim Jurusan Teknik Elektro Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negeri Semarang.

Kegiatan tersebut dilaksanakan pada Minggu pertama dan kedua bulan Juni 2021 dan bertempat di Aula Panti Asuhan serta dihadiri oleh lebih dari 30 santri.

Ketua tim pelaksana, Said Sunardiyo, mengatakan bahwa tujuan diselenggarakannya pelatihan tersebut adalah untuk memberikan pelatihan teori dan praktik tentang konservasi energi yaitu mengenai efisiensi peralatan listrik di Panti Asuhan Al-Huda.

“Kemudian juga untuk memberikan pelatihan teori dan praktik pembangkitan energi listrik dari energi surya dan bayu (angin) serta memberikan wawasan tentang pentingnya energi bagi kehidupan para santri,” tutur Said, Selasa (21/9).

Permasalahan yang dihadapi Panti Asuhan Al-Huda ialah besarnya rekening listrik pada tiap bulannya. Selain itu, sering terjadi pemborosan listrik di panti asuhan, seperti lampu teras yang terus menyala pada siang hari, lampu di toilet dan tempat wudu putra dan putri yang menyala sepanjang hari, kipas angin yang tetap hidup meskipun tidak ada penghuni di ruangan tersebut, menyetrika pakaian dalam jumlah sedikit dan sering sehingga tidak efisien, serta lain sebagainya.

Peralatan listrik yang sebagian besar belum diganti dengan peralatan yang lebih efisien juga menjadikan salah satu faktor membengkaknya angka tagihan listrik di panti asuhan tiap bulannya.

“Penggunaan peralatan listrik di panti masih belum hemat energi. Di samping hal tersebut, para santri belum memahami bahwa listrik bisa dihasilkan selain dari sumber PLN, tetapi dapat dibangkitkan juga oleh EBT seperti sinar matahari (surya) dan angin (bayu). Maka dari itu perlu diberikan pemahaman yang jelas,” ungkap Said.

Said juga menyatakan bahwa kurangnya pengetahuan santri terhadap EBT menjadi permasalahan penting untuk mendapat bantuan dari pihak lain, khususnya Universitas Negeri Semarang yang berlokasi di dekat area panti asuhan tersebut.

“Para santri masih belum memiliki wawasan bahwa sinar matahari dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai sumber energi listrik. Ada pula tiupan angin yang dapat memberikan manfaat menjadi sumber energi listrik bagi kepentingan banyak orang,” jelasnya.

Saat ini telah terbit tulisan artikel mengenai observasi yang dilakukan di Panti Asuhan Al-Huda Petompon, Gajahmungkur, Semarang yang disusun oleh Said Sunardiyo, Sugeng P., Edi Sarwono, Primadiyono, Ubaidilah Siroj, dan Lambang S.U.
