SEMARANG, July 3, 2026 \u2013 In an effort to develop a generation of engineers ready to face global challenges in sustainability, the Faculty of Engineering at Semarang State University (UNNES) officially sent off 45 students from the Mechanical Engineering Study Program. These students will participate in an intensive Joint Research program at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), Malaysia. This international collaboration program demonstrates FT UNNES’s concrete commitment to supporting the achievement of the global SDGs targets.
This international collaboration program will specifically focus on two crucial areas of future technology: Renewable Energy and Natural Fiber Composites.
This strategic step demonstrates the UNNES Faculty of Engineering’s active contribution to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in three key areas:
SDG 4 (Quality Education): Providing students with access to international-standard engineering education and global research experiences. SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy): Through intensive research in renewable energy to encourage innovation in sustainable energy transitions. SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production): Through the development of environmentally friendly materials based on natural fiber composites to reduce dependence on non-degradable synthetic materials. The Vice Dean for Business, Research, and Cooperation at the UNNES Faculty of Engineering, Rusiyanto, S.Pd., M.T., expressed his appreciation and high hopes for the departing student delegation.We also hope that students will be serious about studying abroad to advance SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) in Indonesia. Besides participating in these activities, we hope that students will be able to apply the knowledge they gain abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We hope these 45 Mechanical Engineering students will not only absorb the latest green knowledge and technology at UMPSA, but also be able to produce innovative and reputable joint research outputs. This is a concrete step by the UNNES Faculty of Engineering in supporting the global energy transition and the development of environmentally friendly materials in line with the SDGs targets, while also strengthening our students’ capabilities on the international stage,” said Rusiyanto, S.Pd., M.T., when sending off the students.
During their time at UMPSA Malaysia, the students will gain direct access to modern laboratory facilities, collaborate with local researchers, and be directly involved in case studies on the use of natural fibers as alternative, environmentally friendly composite materials and the development of renewable energy.
Through this joint research program, the UNNES Faculty of Engineering remains committed to producing graduates with global insight, adaptability to national and international technological advances, and prepared to contribute to the green industry sector for a sustainable future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
